As part of the Oxford Museums at Night Light and Dark event on Friday May 17th, the Pitt Rivers Museum will again be transformed by music, sound and performance between 19:00 and 22:00. A full gamelan orchestra will occupy the Clore Balcony and immerse the Museum in the beautiful sounds of Javanese bronze percussion, mixing informal performance with elements of a wayang kulit, or shadow puppet play, led by dhalang David McKenny. Live music will be interspersed with field recordings from our sound archive and more.
